This is a rain-or-shine event. The City of Westerville, in partnership with the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO), offers an annual collection program for residents to properly dispose of household hazardous waste. Questions regarding this event should be directed to the Department of Public Service, 901-6740 or

The fall collection will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at the Public Service Department, 350 Park Meadow Rd., 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Please enter Park Meadow Road from Schrock Road. 

The following items are acceptable for collection:

  • Lighter Fluid
  • Thinner/Turpentine
  • Gasoline
  • Kerosene
  • Gasoline/Oil Mix 
  • CFL Bulbs
  • Rat Poison/Insecticides
  • Extinguishers
  • Mercury/Ni-Cad Batteries 
  • Pool Chemicals
  • Strong Chemicals
  • Computer Hardware
  • TV /Phones/Cameras
  • Copiers/Fax Machines
  • VCRs/Radios/Wires
  • In sealed containers

  • Tires w/o Rims (limit four per household)
  • Drain Cleaners
  • Bleach/Household
  • Paint Strippers
  • Antifreeze
  • Needles/Medical Waste
  • Asbestos/Propane Tanks (over 20 lbs)

 Latex/water-based paints will be accepted.  Disposal Fee: $1.00 per can
