While there have been great strides in medical technology and the majority of people taking medication have good intentions there is still the potential for misuse or abuse. One way law enforcement combats medication misuse and abuse is by reducing the access people have to medication when it is expired or no longer needed. Furthermore, pharmaceutical waste poses a significant environmental risk, especially to our drinking water when flushed down the toilet.
Residents can safely dispose of certain medications free of charge at the Westerville Police Station. The Westerville Division of Police has a medication disposal box located in the lobby. The lobby is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Those who wish to dispose of approved medication can come to the lobby and discard the medication without filling out any forms and no questions asked. Please see the information below on what can be placed in the disposal box.
