The Appliance Recycling Program enables residents to conveniently dispose of working and non-working refrigerators and freezers in a sustainable way. The year-round program is designated for Westerville residents. Visit the City's Residency page to confirm your residency status.

Old Fridge Contest
Residents who participate in the Appliance Recycling Program throughout 2027 will be automatically entered into the Oldest Fridge Contest for a chance to win $250! The contest winner will be announced in January 2027.
In 2025, residents recycled 146 units through the Appliance Recycling Program. The oldest unit was a painted red GE refrigerator from the late 1930s. Additional old-fridge submissions included the following:
- Runner Up - 1940-50s Norge
- Third Place - Late 1950s Tappan
- Fourth Place - 1960-70s Westinghouse

Meet the Contractor
The City has contracted Home Appliance Solutions (HAS) to conduct unit pick-ups. HAS will not re-sell any unites collected from Westerville's Appliance Recycling program.
