Underground 69kV Cable Replacement Project

In keeping with the Westerville Electric Division’s commitment to delivering reliable electric services, the City is undertaking a major public power infrastructure improvement project in 2020.

The Underground 69kV Cable Replacement Project will upgrade and replace 1.2 miles of underground high-voltage power lines installed nearly 50 years ago. This new equipment will help ensure reliable power delivery for the next 50 years. 

PROJECT AT A GLANCE

  • Schedule: March - December 2020 | 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday-Friday (Some Saturdays may be permitted by the City)
  • Spring/Summer: South Hempstead Road from Colony Drive to south of Gentlewind Drive
  • Summer: South Hempstead Road from Laureen Court to south of Walnut Street
  • Fall: Under Spring Road from Towers Park to Lawrence Road
  • Contractors: Danbert Electrical Corporation and Kerite Cable Services
  • $3 million investment in public power infrastructure
  • Projected 50-year useful life
