 Pride Month

To proclaim the month of June 2018

as Pride Month in Westerville and urge

our residents to reflect on the ongoing struggle

for equality members of the LGBTQ community

face and celebrate the contributions that

enhance the City.

 

 Flag Day

To proclaim June 14, 2018 as Flag Day

in Westerville and urge all residents to observe 

Flag Day by flying the Stars and Stripes from their

homes and other suitable places and to celebrated our

heritage in public gatherings and activities and to publicly

recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the 

Unites States of America.

 Poppy Day

To proclaim May 25, 2015 as Poppy

Day in Westerville and ask all citizens pay tribute to

those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the name

of freedom by wearing the Memorial Poppy on this day.  

 

National Mental Health Month

To proclaim May 2018 as National Mental

Health Month in Westerville and urge all residents

to support Concord Counseling Services and the service

they provide to all citizens in Westerville. 

 

National Emergency Medical Services Week

To proclaim the week of May 20 through May 26, 2018

as National Emergency Medical Services Week in Westerville

with the theme, "EMS Strong, Strong Together" and encourage

the community to observe this week with appropriate

programs, ceremonies and activities.   

 

 National Wetlands Month

To Proclaims May 2018 as National

Wetlands Month and call upon all

citizens of Westerville to aid in the continuing

efforts to preserve our valuable wetland resources.

 Kids to Parks Day

To proclaim Saturday, May 19, 2018 as Kids 

to Parks Day in Westerville and urge residents

of Westerville to make time May 19, 2018 to take

the children in their lives to a neighborhood, state or 

national park.

 

Honoring Our Heroes Weekend

To proclaim May 25, 2018 through May 28, 2018

as Honoring Our Heroes Weekend in Westerville

and recognize this weekend as an opportunity for us

all to come together as a community to remember,

to honor, and to heal.

 

 National Physical Fitness and Sports Month

To proclaim May 2018 as National Physical Fitness and

Sports Month and encourage all to celebrate by participating 

in their choice of quality of life activities, options and experiences

as well as maintaining these healthy and happy activities and 

attitudes throughout the year.

 

Dr. Kathy Krendl Day

To proclaim Wednesday, May 16, 2018 as

Dr. Kathy Krendl Day in Westerville and express

appreciation for her service of outstanding leadership

and dedication to Otterbein University and the City of 

Westerville and extend to her sincere best wishes for a 

long and happy retirement. 

 

Bob Crain Proclamation

To recognize Bob Crain for his many years of 

dedicated service in the community, helping to

build memories for children and their families,

making our community a better place to live, work

and play and express sincere appreciation and gratitude

for his outstanding leadership and do hereby proclaim

May 5th as Bob Crain Day. 

 

 National Older Americans Month

To proclaim May 2018 as National Older Americans

Month and urge every citizen of Westerville to join in this 

observance in honoring the life-long contributions of our older

residents; and to assist our senior citizens to continue their

involvement in the community, recognizing the vital resources

our senior citizens provide.  

 

National Bike Month

To Proclaim May 2018 as National

Bike Month.  National Bike Month is a

time when citizens can do something special

to direct deserved national attention to the 

benefits of physical activity. 

 

 National Public Works Week

To proclaim May 6 through May 12, 2018

as National Public Works Week in Westerville

and urge all residents to recognize the contributions 

which public works officials make every day to our health, 

safety, comfort, and quality of life.  

 

National Police Week 

To proclaim May 13 through May 19, 2018

as National Police Week in Westerville and ask

that all residents and businesses "Light Central Ohio

Blue" by placing blue bulbs in exterior lights and displaying

visible blue ribbons during Police Memorial Week.  The City calls upon

all citizens to observe May 15, 2018 as Peace Officers' Memorial Day

in honor of those law enforcement officers who, through their courageous

deeds, have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community

or have become disabled in the performance of duty, and let us recognize and pay respect to the survivors of our fallen heroes.

 

 National Garden Week

To proclaim June 3, 2018 through June 9,

2018 as National Garden Clubs, Inc.  National

Garden Week in Westerville and urge all residents to

acknowledge the importance of Gardening and the numerous

contributions of Gardeners.


 

27th Annual WesterFlora 2018 Garden Tour 

To proclaim the WesterFlora 2018 Season is open.  To

encourage all residents to support the spirit of WesterFlora

and the Westerville Garden Club's efforts to beautify Westerville.

 

 

 National Day of Prayer

To Proclaim Thursday, May 3, 2018 as a Day of Prayer

in Recognition of National Day of Prayer and the WARM

Community Prayer Breakfast in Westerville and recognize 

the Westerville Area Resource Ministry for their dedication 

of providing a valuable service to the residents of Westerville.

 

Financial Literacy Month

To proclaim the month of April 2018

as Financial Literacy Month in Westerville

and encourage all residents to learn more

about financial strategies and options. 

 

 Arbor Day

To proclaim Friday, April 27, 2018 as Arbor Day in

commemoration of the 146th anniversary of Arbor Day

and do hereby urge all citizens of the City of Westerville

to support the Westerville Shade Tree Commission's efforts

to beautify our community and commend their efforts to 

promote the planting of trees in accordance with the 

City Tree Master Plan.

 

National Volunteer Week

To proclaim April 15 through April 21, 2018 

as National Volunteer Week in Westerville, and 

urge all citizens to be aware of the contributions made

by our service organizations and volunteer workers within

the City of Westerville.

 Parkinson's Awareness Month

To proclaim April 2018 as Parkinson's Awareness

Month in Westerville and urge the community to promote

awareness to fight Parkinson's disease, thereby, improving 

the quality of human life for those living with Parkinson's disease.

 

 National Telecommunications Week

To proclaim the week of April 8 through

April 14, 2018 as National Telecommunications

Week in Westerville in honor of the men and women

whose diligence and professionalism keep our city 

and citizens safe.

National Library Week

To proclaim April 8 through April 14, 

2018 as National Library Week in Westerville

and encourage all people to take advantage of

of the wonderful library resources available at 

our community's indispensable center for ideas

and information, the Westerville Public Library.  

 

 Celebration of the Arts Month

To proclaim that the month of April 2018

be referred to as Celebration of the Arts Month

in Westerville and to declare Westerville as an

arts-friendly community of educators, learners, 

and practitioners and sets aside the month of April

annually for the recognition and celebration of the Arts.

 Mayors' Monarch Pledge

On behalf of the people of Westerville

who have already joined in creating a healthy

habitat for these magnificent butterflies, Mayor 

Treneff is honored to sign the National Wildlife 

Federation's Mayors' Monarch Pledge; and 

encourages other city officials across this 

great nation to take a stand so that the 

monarch butterfly will once again 

flourish across the continent.

To proclaim Saturday, April 7, 2018

as Service Day in Westerville and urge

all residents to volunteer in this worthwhile 

community activity by helping out the local 

non-profit organizations or residents in need.

To proclaim Monday, March 19, 2018

as Emerson Elementary School Day in

celebration of 122 years of education excellence 

to the Westerville Community

 

 Martin Luther King Jr. Day

To Proclaim Monday, January 15, 2018

as Martin Luther King Jr. Day throughout

the City of Westerville and urge our citizens

to rededicate themselves to the principle of 

justice and equality for all.

 

Cervical Health Awareness Month

To Proclaim the month of January as Cervical 

Health Awareness Month throughout the City of 

Westerville and encourage all citizens to recognize 

that cervical cancer is preventable, and to encourage

and support women in our lives in taking charge of their

health and availing themselves of the tests and vaccines

that have proven so effective in preventing cervical cancer.

 

 National Engineers Week

To Proclaim February 18, 2018 through February

24, 2018 as National Engineers Week in Westerville,

in order to give citizens the opportunity to recognize the

contributions made by the engineering profession, and 

hereby urge all citizens to join in tribute and recognition

to the community residents who are members of this 

worthy profession.
