Application deadline extended to Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, no later than 5 p.m.

Effective Dec. 31, 2025, there will be vacancies on the following Boards and Commissions:

  • Planning Commission Application(one vacancy; four-year term)

    This seven-member commission, including one member of City Council, holds public hearings on land use items such as subdivision plans and rezoning requests. The Planning Commission meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Westerville Justice Center, located at 229 Huber Village Blvd.

  • Board of Zoning Appeals Application(two vacancies; four-year term)
    View Summary

    This seven-member board hears and decides appeals from any order or decision made by a city administrative officer in enforcing the zoning ordinance. The board can also authorize zoning variances, provided they do not conflict with the public interest. The Board of Zoning Appeals meets the second Thursday of each month at the Westerville Justice Center, located at 229 Huber Village Blvd.

  • Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Application(two vacancies; three-year term)

    This 11-member advisory board, including one member of City Council, studies and recommends recreational program needs and facilities, reviews landscaping plans and promotes the planting and care of City trees. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meets the third Thursday of each month at the Community Center, located at 350 N. Cleveland Ave.

    This three-member board hears appeals on disciplinary matters involving Westerville City municipal and school employees and meets on and as-needed basis.

    This two-member board follows the procedures, obligations and authority as set forth in Ohio Revised Code Chapters 143 and 146, as applicable, and meets as needed.

Minimum Service Qualifications

Any person who serves on any board or commission established or created by the City Charter, City Code or the general laws of the State, must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a *resident of the City (residing within the corporate limits of the City of Westerville) for six (6) months
  • Be a registered elector
  • Be able to attend in-person meetings

Applicants cannot hold any public office or serve on any other board or commission of the City or any other position in the City, except where provided herein or by the general laws of the State.
