National Preparedness Month

Post Date:09/03/2019 11:36 AM

The City of Westerville is joining Franklin County Emergency Management & Homeland Security (FCEM&HS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in encouraging residents to identify and prepare for disasters that could impact their families and community.

With the theme of “Prepared, Not Scared,” FEMA has designated one goal for each week of the month:

  1. (Sept. 1-7) Save Early for Disaster Costs
  2. (Sept. 8-14) Make a Plan to Prepare for Disasters
  3. (Sept. 15-21) Teach Youth to Prepare for Disasters
  4. (Sept. 22-30) Get Involved in Your Community’s Preparedness

Franklin County residents can register for the ALERT Franklin County service to receive important information and weather alerts to their mobile devices at www.alertfranklincounty.org. A similar service is available to Delaware County residents through the Delco Alert System at emergencycomms.co.delaware.oh.us/delco-alerts.  Additionally, Westerville residents can receive mobile alerts about local situations by registering at www.westerville.org/onthealert.
