City Council Appointment

Post Date:08/13/2019 4:20 PM

Westerville, OH— Westerville City Council has appointed former Council member John Bokros to fill a vacant, unexpired term ending November 30, 2019.  Bokros replaces Diane Fosselman, who served 20 years as a Westerville Councilmember before resigning her position this past July upon relocating out of  the City.

Bokros served on Westerville City Council from 2015-2017. He was appointed to fulfill the term of Jenifer French in 2015 after she was elected judge in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas. Bokros is not seeking a Council seat in the 2019 election. He is retired from the Westerville Division of Fire, where he worked for his 38-years career as Chief Fire Marshal, Firefighter, Fire Inspector and Battalion Chief. He and wife Linda have lived in Westerville for 36 years, and have three grown children.

Bokros will be sworn in at the next regular Council Meeting on Tuesday, September 3.

Council Chair Mike Heyeck expressed his appreciation for the four residents who volunteered to complete Fosselman’s term.

“It speaks highly to the sense of duty held by the applicants for this appointment given the temporary nature of the position,” said Heyeck. “We were impressed with the professionalism and qualifications of these candidates and welcome their continued service in the community. John has remained active and engaged in the work of the City, and his experience will help manifest a seamless transition.”

The non-partisan Westerville City Council consists of seven at-large members elected to overlapping, four-year terms.
