New Recycling Carts Approved

Post Date:11/14/2018 12:57 PM
Westerville City Council voted at their Tuesday, Nov. 13 meeting to take advantage of a grant and cost-sharing program provided through the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) to purchase new recycling carts for residents.

The new receptacles can hold up to 65-gallons of recyclables and are easier-to-move, featuring wheels for rolling and a handle for efficient transport to curbside, as well as an attached lid. A smaller option will be available for single or small-family users.

Due to their increased size and ease of use, the carts are expected to promote increased curbside recycling, supporting the City’s overall sustainability initiative. The carts would be delivered in spring 2019.

Residents will not be required to surrender their red bins. They may be continued to be used to supplement recycling in the home or garage. However, red bins left at the curbside will be taken for recycling shortly after the new carts are delivered.
