Memorial Day Weekend

May is a month marked by important community events in Westerville. The following is a schedule of activities happening in the City this month. Please be sure to note City facility hours and services impacted by Memorial Day. 

Friday, May 25
Highlands Park Aquatic Center Passholder Appreciation Event
Those who purchase Highlands Park Aquatic Center season passes before the season begins are invited to kick-off the aquatic fun a day early at the park, 245 S. Spring Rd. from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Get your season passport today at www.westerville.org/hpac.


Mount Carmel St. Ann's Fourth Friday
Hosted by the Westerville Visitors and Convention Bureau (WVCB), this event features live music, food and fun. Remember that State Street closes between East Park and West Home Streets from 5:30-9:15 p.m. for this community event. 

Friday, May 25 - Monday, May 28
Field of Heroes
Join the Westerville Sunrise Rotary and community partners for the tenth-annual Field of Heroes at the Westerville Sports Complex, 325 N. Cleveland Ave. More than 3,000 American flags will wave proudly on the grounds of the Westerville Sports Complex to commemorate the Memorial Day holiday. Saturday, May 26
Highlands Park Aquatic Center Officially Opens
One of the most anticipated days of the year, Highlands Park and Aquatic Center, 245 S. Spring Rd. opens its gates at 11 a.m. Learn more about all this park has to offer at www.westerville.org/hpac.

Monday, May 28
City Facility Hours, Services Impacted
City offices will be closed in observance of Memorial Day and yard waste will be delayed. The Westerville Community Center will be open from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. WCC pools will be open from 1 - 5 p.m. Highlands Park Aquatic Center will be open from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Memorial Day March
The American Legion Young-Budd Post 171 will hold the annual Memorial Day March on Monday, May 28 beginning at 9:45 a.m. ROUTE: The march will travel from the corner of College Avenue and North State Street to Otterbein Cemetery, by way of State Street, Bishop Drive and Knox Street. 

Tuesday, May 29
City Services Impacted
Yard waste will be collected.


Wednesday, May 30
City Services Impacted
Refuse and Recycling will be collected.

National Senior Health & Fitness Day Health Fair
The 24th-annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day will feature a health fair at the Westerville Community Center, 350 N. Cleveland Ave. from 9-11 a.m. Registration is required for this free event (Activity #505199-01). Come learn from more than 30 exhibitors, screenings and a complimentary healthy breakfast. 

Thursday, May 31
Disney’s Aladdin Jr. Premieres
Westerville Park and Recreation Civic Theatre will present Disney’s Aladdin Jr. at Alum Creek Amphitheatre at 7 p.m. Can’t make it to the May show? They’ll have three more in June. Find ticket information at www.westerville.org/parks.

No season is complete without a fun class with Westerville Parks and Recreation. The registration schedule is as follows:
Friday, May 18 at 12 p.m.  Online Resident Registration
Saturday, May 19 at 8 a.m.  In-Person Resident Registration
Sunday, May 20 at 12 p.m.  Online Open Registration
Monday, May 21 at 8 a.m.  In-Person Open Registration
Older Adult registration (Senior Center members) for Saturday, May 19 will be held at the Westerville Community Center (350 N. Cleveland Ave.)
