Spring Road Improvements

Post Date:01/12/2018 2:35 PM
The City of Westerville achieved a significant funding milestone for the Spring Road Improvements Project with a combination grant/loan totaling $2 million recommended by the Ohio Public Works District 3 Integrating Committee. The milestone was announced mid-December; the state is expected to formally award the funding in the first quarter of 2018.

Detailed design and engineering of the planned enhancements will take place this year. Construction is expected to begin March 2019 and be completed in 2019. As part of this project, Spring Road will undergo improvements between East Schrock Road and East Walnut Street. Enhancements will include pavement reconstruction, new curbing, enhanced pedestrian crossings and stormwater controls/treatment. All traffic will be shifted to one side of the median while the pavement on the other side is being reconstructed as was done for the improvements to Spring Road in 2017 between Huber Village Boulevard and East Schrock Road.

This work follows construction along the southern portion of Spring Road, between East Schrock and Huber Village Boulevard, which similarly involved the total reconstruction of existing pavement and new curbing. This initial phase of Spring Road improvements was substantially complete by September 2017.
