PROS 2030 Master Plan Needs Assessment Survey Information
The City of Westerville Parks & Recreation Department conducted the initial phases of the Master Plan community engagement process through focus groups, intercept surveys, public meetings and a survey. The survey, administered by a combination of mail and phone from February - March of 2013, was conducted to collect opinions, input and preferences on the future of the Westerville parks and recreation services. This statistically-valid survey was planned to measure residents' views of existing services and programs while planning for the next 10 years.
Leisure Vision worked extensively with City of Westerville officials in the development of the survey questionnaire. This work allowed the survey to be tailored to issues of strategic importance to effectively plan the future system.
The goal was to obtain a total of at least 300 completed surveys. This goal was far exceeded, with a total of 405 surveys having been completed. The level of confidence is 95% with a margin of error of +/-4.9%. The survey outcomes showed:
- 93% have used a park or facility within the last year
- 67% rated park quality as "Excellent"
- 60% have participated in a program
- 62% rates program quality as "Excellent"
- 85% or residents feel use of the income tax has been "Good" or "Excellent"
