CITY OF WESTERVILLE BENEFITS FROM JP MORGAN CHASE JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

City Comments on Local Economic Impact of Job Creation

Westerville, Ohio –  About 150 new jobs are on their way to the City of Westerville, thanks to the JP Morgan Chase company, which last week announced an expansion bringing more than 1,150 total jobs to Central Ohio.  The Chase operations campus at Cleveland Ave. is the site where the positions are expected to be added in Westerville.

According to the Chase press release, jobs will also be added at the following locations near Westerville:

  • Several hundred at the 2 million square-foot McCoy Center at Polaris.  With more than 8,000 Chase employees already there, it is the company’s largest facility in the world.
  • Several hundred at the 550,000 square-foot home lending facility near the Easton Town Center.

Chase indicates the job creation plan amounts to about 900 for telephone customer-service positions serving Chase’s consumer and home lending customers around the country.  Other positions will support the company’s technology, including its network of 14,000 ATMs.  More than half the jobs are being created to help homeowners who are struggling with their monthly mortgage payments.

Chase’s Westerville facilities in Brooksedge and on Cleveland Ave. handle a variety of operations, including credit card processing functions.  Combined, with more than 2,900 employees, Chase’s Westerville operations constitute the City’s largest employer.

“This is undoubtedly an economic boost for our community and to the many Westerville residents employed by the Chase company,” said David Collinsworth, Westerville City Manager.  “We feel extremely fortunate to begin seeing signs of economic improvement locally, particularly when the nation is working hard to address the economy and important issues like jobs.  Job creation and retention have always been priorities for the City of Westerville, and Chase is a key partner in keeping this community thriving.  We’re so pleased that Chase values its operations here in Westerville and in Central Ohio, as we expand on our work to make the City an attractive, productive destination for business.”
