Westerville Division of Police is proud to announce that the Westerville Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association was named as the Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association of the Year by the National Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association (NCPAA). This is awarded to an NCPAA member’s alumni association for outstanding efforts in a variety of activities and/or events that assist and benefit the police department and community as a whole.
The Westerville Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association (WCPAAA) is heavily involved in the following programs which help the Division of Police complete its mission:
Cops & Kids Day
Officer St. Nick
National Night Out
Adopt an Officer
Car Seat Installation
Serving Our Seniors Day
Youth Police Academy
Law Enforcement Explorer Post
Westerville Fourth Fridays
In addition to assisting with the above programs the WCPAAA provides funding to two officers to attend the Police Officer Memorial in Washington, DC and sends 4 officers to Street Survival Training. They have also hosted a seminar on School Violence by John Gidduck.
The WCPAAA was the 2007 recipient of the Lifetime Presidential Service Award for the number of volunteer hours logged.
