The Great Lakes Region, a regional division of the National Recreation and Park Association, has awarded the Westerville Parks and Recreation Department the 2007 Great Lakes Regional Health and Fitness Award. The Great Lakes region includes the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin and two Canadian provinces. The Health and Fitness award criteria was based upon evidence of a program, promotion, or facility tying public park and recreation agency to health and fitness; addressing indicators and measurements of success; and customer/participation feedback. The award presentation will be held at the National Recreation and Parks Association Congress and Exposition at Indianapolis, Indiana on September 28.
