Project Traffic Control
Staff continues to monitor traffic along project detour route (Cleveland Ave, County Line Rd, and Main St) especially now that school is back in session and traffic patterns have changed yet again. Additional signal timing adjustments were made earlier this week at Cleveland/Main and Cleveland/County Line.
Once Otterbein University students return in mid-September, staff will revisit the signal operation at the intersection of Main/West and determine whether or not parking restrictions are needed along West St to facilitate traffic flow.
Project Restoration
Over the
next 4-6 weeks, various contractors will be completing turf and
landscape restoration on projects including the 2009 and 2010 Street
Maintenance Programs, the 2009 Sidewalk Reconstruction Program, the
Communication Conduit Project, and the West Street Storm Sewer Project.
Door hangers will be provided to the adjacent property owners to notify
them of work and to provide information regarding the seed mix, mowing
requirements, and contact information, if questions or problems arise.
Riser Safety Program (Columbia Gas)
Columbia Gas will be replacing risers in over 2,000 homes city-wide this year. This program is intended to replace certain types of risers that are prone to failure. The work involves shutting off the gas to the home and replacing the pipe that rises out of the ground and connects to the gas meter. Columbia Gas will need to enter into the home to check for leaks prior to restoring gas service. Notices have been sent to the affected property owners by mail and door hangers are being placed just prior to construction with contact information. For further information visit Columbia Gas’ website at www.columbiagasohio.com/ and click on the link: Improvement Projects and then Riser Replacement. Riser replacements are currently underway at businesses and multi-family housing developments. Residential replacements are anticipated to begin in March.
Reservoir Pollution Reduction Project (City of Columbus)
Improvements are planned to reduce the amount of pollution in storm runoff water flowing into the Hoover, Griggs, and O'Shaughnessy Reservoirs. The improvements consist primarily of filtering storm water through special bio-retention areas. Work is scheduled to begin in early June at Hoover Reservoir, at the locations shown on the graphic, and will take several months to complete. Traffic will be maintained. This project is being funded from ARRA stimulus funds.
